that session, sir alexis

sir, i would like to thank you for making me more open to films. i can still remember the time when you substituted our prof for around three to four sessions. those sessions when i wished that i should have taken your course. the session when you let us watch the short, entitled cataract/or katarakt - that until now, i haven't found online and haven't thought of the spelling.

but that session, that session. it opened me to become more appreciative of short and/or indie films. i had always dreamed of becoming a film-maker; trying my best when i was in high school to come up with an "indie" film, coz i once thought that a short indie film is totally pointless, it's a film that you feel like you doing. and after that session, i was completely wrong.

that session, sir. a short film, or any film i believe (unless it's made by a director not worthy of any "prestigious" government award)is not just about making one. malabo, i know. there should always be a point (or a point about being pointless). films are not done out of whims.

that session, i guessed, was conspired by the heavens to teach me that films are done in a very complex manner. that films should be seen with a really wide and open eyes - leaving all biases. tremendous amount of effort is used to produce a combination of stills. though you try to hide the meaning, it should be understood well by the audience. completely different to my point of view.

that session, though may be seen as little of little importance but to me it means a lot. i would try my best to make myself not to believe that you are now lost and gone forever. cause you are not. your legacy would continue. mabuhay ang pelikulang filipino.
